Zourit normally plans lessons in Étang-Salé. Depending on the day, the black-sand learning area can offer a more direct way into the water and back to shore than the reef environment in Saint-Leu.
This can suit complete beginners, families, children and visitors who prefer to save their energy for the lesson itself. It never means that conditions are automatically easy: currents, waves, crowds and the operational safety system are checked every day.
Marin welcomes you on the beach, selects a suitable board and explains the specific spot and the conditions of the day. Safety instructions cover the learning area, currents, distances, board control, head protection and how to avoid other water users.
A short mobility wake-up with breathing prepares the body. In the water, you first learn your position and paddling before catching a wave lying down. Standing up is introduced progressively, but it is not an exam and does not have to happen during the first session.
You must be able to swim 20 metres and put your head underwater without panicking. Tell Marin confidentially about any medical condition, pain, anxiety or physical concern that may help him adapt the session.
Bring swimwear, a towel, drinking water and suitable sun protection. The surfboard, leash and rash vest are provided.
The announced safety-system window in Étang-Salé is now 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. when the system is actually deployed. Lessons usually start at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The 1 p.m. start is the last so that a 90-minute lesson ends at about 2:30 p.m. This schedule does not guarantee surfable conditions or an operating safety system; Marin’s confirmation message remains the reference.
Operational information is normally received around 8:30 a.m. Marin then confirms the final location, time and meeting point. If the conditions are unsuitable or the necessary safety system is not active, the lesson is postponed.

Please arrive about 15 minutes before the stated time. It marks the beginning of welcome, equipment and briefing, not necessarily immediate water entry.
