When the safety system is operating, its announced window in Étang-Salé and Saint-Leu is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The usual lesson starts are 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The 1 p.m. start is the last of the day so that a 90-minute lesson ends at about 2:30 p.m. These times are an operating framework, not a guarantee of surfable conditions. Always follow Zourit’s final confirmation.

Friendly and progressive
Group lesson

Learn the foundations with the energy of a small group and coaching adapted to the conditions of the day.
Marin welcomes you on the beach, where the rash vests and surfboards are prepared. He explains the day’s conditions and the specific spot, followed by a short mobility wake-up combining simple agility movements and breathing.
You then spend about one hour in the water, where each step is introduced gradually. The lesson finishes with personal advice and a debrief to help you understand what comes next.

Safety comes before the schedule
Surf conditions are never guaranteed. Operational information is received around 8:30 a.m., after which Marin confirms the final location and time. If conditions are unsuitable, the lesson is postponed.
Between 8:30 and 9 a.m., you may also check the official @ressac.reunion Instagram story for the day’s BSAN safety-system information for Étang-Salé and Saint-Leu. Trois-Bassins is currently on hold. For a Zourit lesson, Marin’s personal confirmation remains the reference.
Always follow Marin’s confirmation message and the instructions given by the professionals on site. Please give at least 12 hours’ notice if you need to cancel; after that deadline, a medical certificate may be requested.
Please arrive about 15 minutes before the stated time. This marks the beginning of the welcome, equipment and briefing, not necessarily immediate water entry. Traffic, parking, the group’s arrival or an operational adjustment to the safety system can occasionally delay the start by 10 to 20 minutes. Do not rush on the road; message Marin on WhatsApp if you are delayed.

A qualified and experienced instructor
Marin first entered the waves at Étang-Salé as a bodyboarder in 2000, before moving into surfing. He worked as a shark spotter in Étang-Salé in 2012–2013, then earned his BPJEPS Surf qualification at Institut Sport Océan in 2014.
Across more than twelve years of teaching, he has guided complete beginners, families and progressing surfers. His experience includes Atlantic surf schools, UCPA groups and Les Estagnots in Seignosse, as well as surf journeys through Portugal, Spain, Costa Rica, Indonesia, New Zealand and Australia.
From a first take-off to advanced progression, his approach combines clear technique, attention to the individual, ocean awareness and adaptation to the waves available that day. His 2018 Swiss Senior Surf Champion title and later work at Alaïa Bay are milestones within that wider teaching journey.

What should you bring?
Bring swimwear, a towel, water and suitable sun protection. The surfboard, leash and rash vest are included.
You must be able to swim 20 metres and put your head underwater without panicking. Tell Marin confidentially about any medical condition, anxiety or physical concern so the lesson can be adapted properly.
