01What “mindful surfing” means at Zourit
The session begins with conversation, a reading of the day’s conditions and clear safety instructions. Short mobility movements and conscious breathing help release unnecessary tension before entering the water.
In the ocean, the focus may be paddling, board position, timing, line choice or simply rebuilding comfort in moving water. After the session, a calm debrief turns sensations into practical reference points for the next step.
02Confidence grows through evidence, not pressure
Someone returning after fear, a long break or a difficult experience does not need to prove bravery. The first useful step may be observing the spot, lying on the board, controlling the breath or catching a small white-water wave.
Each successful, manageable action gives the nervous system new information. The objective is not to remove all fear, but to distinguish useful caution from panic and to make better decisions with support.

03What breathing and meditation cannot do
They cannot authorise a closed area, activate a safety system, change a powerful swell or make a reef suitable for every beginner. A calm mind is useful precisely because it can accept a change of plan or a postponed session.
The location, time and content remain subject to the ocean, the student’s level and the active safety arrangements. This realism is part of the holistic approach, not a contradiction of it.
04Who may benefit from this approach?
It can suit complete beginners, returning surfers, travellers looking for a deeper experience, people rebuilding confidence and intermediate surfers whose tension limits paddling or decision-making.
Tell Marin about relevant medical conditions, pain, anxiety or previous experiences. You must still be able to swim 20 metres and put your head underwater without panicking.
