Why choose a private lesson?

A private lesson gives Marin more time to observe your paddling, position, timing, confidence and decision-making. It can suit a complete beginner seeking reassurance, a couple sharing an experience, a family or a surfer wanting precise technical progression.

Objectives remain flexible. The most useful focus may change with the waves of the day: board control, paddling, take-off, line choice, speed, priority rules or reading the ocean.

What makes Saint-Leu different?

Saint-Leu has a strong surf culture and a beautiful reef-fringed bay. The teaching area near Petit Port is not a black-sand beach: it is a reef environment with a pass and often a longer paddle than the usual learning approach in Étang-Salé.

This does not automatically make Saint-Leu unsuitable for beginners. It may suit athletic beginners who are comfortable in the water when the conditions, the level and the operating safety system are appropriate.

03

Safety and ocean conditions come first

Before entering the water, Marin explains the pass, currents, reef environment, distances, priorities and the boundaries of the teaching area. Students learn to keep control of their boards, protect their heads and avoid other water users.

When the safety system is deployed, its announced window is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Usual lesson starts are 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; the last 90-minute lesson ends at about 2:30 p.m.

The lesson is only confirmed when the location is suitable for the students and the required safety arrangements are actually operating. These hours do not guarantee surfable conditions. If the area is not appropriate, another location or a postponed session may be proposed.

How to arrange Saint-Leu for three or four people

Dedicated online calendars are available for solo, duo and private groups of three or four. Saint-Leu still needs to be requested and confirmed according to the group’s level, ocean conditions and the active safety system.

TidyCal may display times in your device’s local time zone. Sessions take place in Reunion Island time, UTC+4; follow Zourit’s final confirmation message.
